Higbee Glass Co Madora Pattern Sherbet Dessert Dish Cups Set of 7 Circa 1910s
Ornate set of 7 clear antique footed sherbet, sauce bowl by Higbee & Co. Glass; pattern named Madora described as arrowhead in oval & beaded oval and fan. Medallion fan; produced between 1910-1917
Condition: very good! Clear bright glass with smooth edges. No chips or fractures noted. They stack nicely.
Each measures: 2 1/4″ tall x 3 3/8″ wide
About: The Higbee Glass Plant produced glass tableware in this area from 1907 through 1918 at which time General Electric purchased it, primarily to manufacture light bulbs. J. B. Higbee Company produced a remarkable variety of glass tableware in at least a dozen different patterns. They were sold in Higbee stores in Pittsburgh and New York and by catalogue. Each pattern was patented, preventing any competitor from copying it.
We also believe these to be EAPG (Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG for short) is clear or coloured pressed glass made from around 1850 until about 1914 in matched sets. Machines for pressing glass were invented in the 1820’s, but it was not until the 1860’s that they were improved enough to mass produce matched table services)
