This is for a wonderful Antique English brass “peacock fan” fireplace screen. It looks lovely open and yet still very decorative when sitting closed. This lovely piece has an ornate design mounted on the front and back with a raised art deco motif. It also is adorned with a unique fancy Finial/handle in on the top for carrying it.
This folding screen can be closed and locked when not in use and or to store. The intricate detail of the filigree cut-out screen creates an amazing reflection and is very light catching. This piece is RARE and very old, late 1880s and thus delicate and the item is heavy and the brass fan blades are much heavier than newer ones.
This piece needs special care esp when opening the blades, I would suggest to be patient and not force them open or closed as you don’t want to loosen the connectors. The brass is very intricately cut with many patterns and is so lovely.
The Base measures approx. 7 inches in depth and is very heavy and sturdy with an Art Deco, Neoclassical, Hollywood Regency feel to the design. The total height with the handle is 30 inches tall (23 inches to top of one of the blades) and the fan when open has a width of 44 inches. There are no makers marks. This is such a lovely piece and needs a perfect place to be displayed.
There is a front and a back to these type of fans as the front of the blades are smoother.
This item is sure to please and will be loved for many years to come.
Majority of my items for sale are pre-loved treasures that were most likely purchased at a local Estate Sale or a local resale shop in Arizona. I may or may not know details but do spend time researching information to provide details the best I can and to pass along fair prices.
